About the Role

Join a collaborative Australian Public Practice Accounting Firm supporting business advisory and compliance services for small business clients.

As an AU Tax Accountant, you'll work with Senior Accountants and Managers to prepare tax returns, financial statements, reconciliations, and compliance documents. This role is ideal for accounting professionals looking to grow their Australian taxation and advisory expertise in a supportive environment

Ideal Candidate Profile

What You'll Bring (Experience)

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• 3-5 years of accounting experience with exposure to Australian taxation and compliance work

• Experience preparing Australian tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, or similar entities

• Strong understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reporting

• Experience preparing workpapers, reconciliations, and accounting schedules

• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Technical Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, or similar platforms

• Knowledge of general ledger, journal entries, and workpaper preparation

• Exposure to tax compliance, payroll processing, or audit support activities is advantageous

Nice to Have

• CPA candidate or CPA qualified

• Xero Advisor Certification

• Experience within an Australian Public Practice accounting environment

• Exposure to BAS, IAS, payroll tax, or other Australian compliance requirements

Tax & Compliance

• Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and other entities

• Assist with BAS, IAS, and other compliance reporting requirements

• Support the preparation of financial statements and tax workpapers

• Ensure compliance with Australian accounting and taxation requirements

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation

• Prepare reconciliations, journals, and supporting schedules

• Assist in preparing management reports and client deliverables

• Support senior team members in meeting client deadlines

Continuous Improvement & Team Collaboration

• Maintain organized client files and document management systems

• Assist in improving accounting processes and administrative efficiencies

• Collaborate with offshore and onshore teams to ensure timely completion of work

• Support special projects and other accounting tasks as required
