About the Role
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you'll manage day-to-day bookkeeping and month-end reporting for Australian clients while supporting junior team members.
You'll handle AP, AR, reconciliations, payroll, reporting, compliance, and cloud-based accounting systems. This role is ideal for an experienced Australian Bookkeeper ready to take ownership, improve processes, and become a trusted client partner.
Ideal Candidate Profile
What You'll Bring (Experience)
At least 5 years of Australian bookkeeping or accounting support experience
Strong experience handling end-to-end bookkeeping for Australian clients
Solid understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, chart of accounts, and financial transaction flows
Experience with Xero, QuickBooks Online, or other cloud-based accounting platforms
Strong experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliations
Experience preparing weekly/monthly financial and management reports
Experience with month-end and balance sheet reconciliations
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, and filtering
Experience supporting Australian clients in an outsourcing, shared services, or client-facing environment
Technical Skills
Xero and cloud-based accounting systems
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and reconciliations
Payroll, superannuation, and BAS/IAS
Australian compliance requirement
Cash flow and financial reporting
Month-end processes
Dext, Hubdoc, ConnectWise, or Wise-Sync experience

Bookkeeping & Financial Operations
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities for Australian clients
Process and reconcile Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions
Ensure invoices, receipts, payments, and financial transactions are accurately recorded
Review cloud-based documentation systems such as Dext or Hubdoc for supporting records
Reconciliations & Reporting
Reconcile bank accounts and financial transactions weekly
Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Prepare weekly and monthly reports using platforms such as Xero
Create and maintain cash flow projections using Excel
Prepare ad hoc financial reports for clients and management
Payroll & Compliance
Prepare payroll according to agreed client schedules
Support payroll queries and superannuation reporting
Assist with BAS, IAS, payroll tax, WorkCover, and other compliance requirements
Monitor reporting deadlines and proactively escalate potential delays or issues
Assist with tax preparation and audit requirements
Systems & Process Improvement
Support Xero setup, chart of accounts, and GL mapping requirements
Act as an escalation point for accounting system and integration issues
Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping and procurement processes
Assist in developing and improving departmental procedures
Team Support & Development
Provide bookkeeping guidance and support to junior and new team members
Share knowledge and assist colleagues with accounting querie
Contribute to training and continuous improvement initiatives
Work collaboratively with Account Managers, clients, and the wider team
